Frequently asked questions

Below, you can find some answers to questions you may have regarding our catalogue, download and physical formats, and the ordering process itself. Should you have any other question, don’t hesitate to write us a message.

What different formats does TRPTK offer?

In our catalogue, all of our titles are available in a plethora of downloading choices. We can imagine it’s a lot to take in. Hopefully this F.A.Q. section can help you out with your choice.

When purchasing a downloadable album, there are two choices to be made. You first choose the resolution (the quality) of the download. We currently offer 24-bit FLAC files at 88.2kHz, 176.4kHz, and 352.8kHz (DXD). We also offer 1-bit DSF (DSD) files at 2.8MHz, 5.6MHz, and 11.2MHz. Lastly, we also offer 32-bit WAV at 352.8kHz for those who want to squeeze every last bit of resolution out of these downloads. Be sure to check out what maximum resolution your DAC can handle.

Secondly, you choose the preferred channel format of the download. You can choose between standard 2-channel stereo and 5-channel surround. When in doubt, choose stereo; not many listeners run a multichannel hi-fi setup.

Lastly, we also offer Spatial Audio Downloads, which means that they contain recordings in immersive formats such as Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, or even discrete 10-channel WAV. Dolby Atmos, although a lossy format, can be played back on many modern home theatre receivers as well as Apple AirPods (Pro), making them a great first introduction to the formats. Regarding discrete 10-channel WAV and Auro-3D, be sure to consult your home theatre receiver’s manual.

Which format does my device play?

Whether or not a specific device can play back a certain file downloaded from our catalogue of course depends on what specific device make/model you use. Your device’s manual should come with some specifications as to what resolutions and channel counts it supports. Be sure to check that out, and when in doubt, write us a message.

What playback software do I need to use?

You can play our FLAC files on virtually anything, for example with the free VLC Player or Foobar2000 for Windows. But there are also many premium software packages out there making you able to catalogue your music, and even improving the sound in many regards. For example, we highly recommend Roon; it’s cross-platform, it looks and sounds gorgeous, and it plays back nearly anything you can throw at it.

How do I place an order?

Buying music from our catalogue is delightfully easy. Ordering just takes a few simple steps:
