Biography

Born in Skopje, Macedonia, Gjorgji finished his studies with full honors, at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, UK , obtaining his undergraduate and postgraduate diploma with the highest honors, in the class of Prof. Jiri Hudec, later becoming his assistant and the first Junior Fellow in Double bass at the RNCM.

He has collaborated with some of the world leading musicians of today such as Bernard Haitink, Kurt Masur, Fabio Luisi, Sir Mark Elder CBE, Douglas Boyd, Gianandrea Noseda, Vassily Sinaisky, Edo de Waart, Valery Gergiev, Brian Schembri, Yutaka Sado, Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Pierre- Henri Xuereb, Dejan Bogdanovic, Nikolai Znaider. Lawrence Renees, Wayne Marshall, Sergey Sambatyan and many others, as well as performed with some of the world leading orchestras such as BBC Philharmonic, Halle Orchestra, Malmo Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Opera North, Northern Sinfonia and many others.

Gjorgji has taken part in many prestigious festivals around the world such as : Salzburger FestspieleAustria, 27 Cantiere Internazionale D’Arte di Montepulciano- Italy, Vienna Modern Festival - Austria, Rydale Festival – UK, Victoria International Arts Festival - Gozo - Malta, Festival De Association Musicale des Deux Fleuves – France, Three Palaces Festival – Malta, CCDM International Double bass festival – China, Cadenza International music festival – Thailand and many others.

Apart from being an active solo performer and working as Principal double bass player at the Malta Philharmonic, he has continued with his educational work and has held numerous master classes, workshops and solo concerts in UK, China, Germany, France, Thailand, Latvia, Cuba, Italy, Sicily,Poland, Macedonia and Malta.

He is also artistic director or Malta International Double bass Days in Valletta– International Double bass festival held in Malta each October and chairman of Joseph Sammut Malta International Double bass Competition, in Malta.

Since 2014 Gjorgji has also become artist soloist to be endorsed by Pirastro strings.

Gjorgji Cincievski’s performances as soloist have met him with highly critical acclaim in the music world because of his very well known technical abilities and his personal musical expression.

His passion for recreating highly skillful and challenging arrangements and transcriptions for the double bass add an interesting new dimension.

His transcriptions of Johann Sebastian Bach "Goldberg Variation" for string trio violin, viola and double bass, has been recognized as the first and only one in the world done for these instruments and has been awarded as the Best Transcription at the most prestigious Double bass European Biennale in Holland 2014.

This transcription as well as his other works such as Sergey Rachmaninov “Elegy Op.3 No.1” – for double bass and piano, David Popper “Requiem” Op.66 for three double basses and piano, Max Bruch “Eight pieces Op.83” for violin, double bass and piano, Johannes Brahms “Trio Op. 8 No.1” for violin, double bass and piano, “Three Macedonian Pieces for Solo Double bass” are exclusively published and available worldwide by one of the most prestigious publishing house in the world – Hofmeister editions in Leipzig, Germany.

His recording from his own transcription from J.S. Bach “ Goldberg Variations” for string trio has been hailed and described by music critics and music scholars as “astonishing successful effort that will leave mark in the world music history” and as “music to the music lovers for the benefit of their souls”.
