This has been such a fun recording to make. A quick session of only a couple of hours, but with three of the most incredible artists we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Emine Bostanci on kemenche, Maya Fridman on cello, and Jacobus Thiele on percussion. Oh, and the ladies also sing. Beautifully, might I add!
The setup
Setting up was easy; we used only the five main microphones (DPA 4006A in OOA setup), with some ever-so-slight addition of the close mics. On cello, we used the DPA 4015A sub-cardioid, and the same one we used for percussion. For kemenche, we used the Sony C100 because of its very open, airy, even breathy kind of sound. It works perfectly with this instrument, accentuating the bowing and the noise of the strings.
All microphones were connected to the ADCs using custom Furutech Alpha-OCC microphone cables, as per usual. We can’t wait to share this recording with you!
