Mezzo-soprano Lotte Bovi initially studied drama at studio Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp before studying voice at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Combining these studies, Lotte has a special interest in both music and visual theatre. She therefore likes to move between both disciplines as a performer but also as a creator.
She sang with a diverse repertoire with companies such as Collegium Vocale Ghent conducted by Philippe Herreweghe, Anima Eterna conducted by Jos Van Immerseel and the Flemish Opera.
With these companies, among others, she participated in various CD recordings and productions at home and abroad. Her repertoire ranges from baroque music by Monteverdi and Bach to Bizet and more modern composers such as Jacob Ter Veldhuis. She sang the title role in the opera Carmen several times. With the five-voice vocal ensemble Bozzolo, she could be heard at the festival Altstadt Herbst in the staged performance Suzanna by Handel.
In a version of Canto Ostinato adapted by Kees Wieringa, she sang on the CD recorded at the Concertgebouw under the title Canto Ostinato Revisited, released by Do records.
In recent years, the agile and also lyrical nature of her voice has led her towards 18th-century composers such as Vivaldi, Handel and contemporaries. An album of this repertoire was recently released under the TRPTK label titled Vibrant Venice.
As a creator of visual music performances, she has participated in numerous festivals, including the Marrakech Biennale, where she presented a performance based on Ravel’s piece Sheherazade. With these performances, she aims to make her voice heard as a creator by transferring her expressive and sometimes surreal vision of life and her great love for music to the audience.
Lotte is a guest singing teacher at the Toneelschool Amsterdam and teaches singing at music school MOC Spijkenisse. Because she wants to transfer her passion for music to young children, she also teaches music at primary school OSBS de Kameleon.
