Biography
Flutist Julie Moulin was born in Auvergne (central France), where she studied with Cyril Coutier, Corinne Sagnol, and Hervé Hotier. After a year of lessons with Vincent Lucas in Paris, she continued her studies from 2006 to 2010 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Lyon with Philippe Bernold, Julien Beaudiment, and Gilles Cottin.
Shortly after graduating, she was selected for the Concertgebouw Orchestra Academy. After only two months, she was accepted as second flutist and alto flutist with the orchestra.
In addition to her work with the orchestra, Julie Moulin is active as a chamber musician. She is a member of Duo Yati, together with Bruno Bonansea (principal clarinetist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra), and of the wind quintet Quintette K, which has won several international prizes. She is also the founder and artistic director of the chamber music festival Les Echappées Musicales du Médoc in southwestern France.
Julie Moulin enjoys teaching. Since 2013, she has been teaching at the CODARTS Conservatory in Rotterdam, together with Juliette Huren and Wim Steinmann, and she regularly gives masterclasses abroad.
Thanks to generous donors, she received a beautiful new Kingma & Brannen alto flute and a mopane wood flute on loan from the collection of the Foundation Concertgebouw Orchestra.
