Biography
Born in Spain in 1984, David studied at the Musikene Conservatory of San Sebastián with Eric Devallon, Juan Manuel Jiménez and Tomás Jerez, where he completed his bachelor's degree with a grade of 10 and Matrícula de Honor, the highest possible distinction. In 2009 he was awarded the title Experto Universitario en Interpretación Musical (University Expert in Musical Interpretation) by the International University of Andalusia. Two years later he completed his master's degree with distinction at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under Arno Bornkamp, spending half a year of his studies in Paris at the CNSM with Claude Delangle and Christophe Bois.
David is a prizewinner of the Caja Madrid Chamber Music Competition (2007), the Concurso Internacional de Benidorm (2008) and the 7th International Osaka Chamber Music Competition (2011), the latter with the Melisma Saxophone Quartet. He received a Becas Navarra scholarship to support his studies in Amsterdam.
He has followed masterclasses with Quatuor Diastema, Vincent David, Jean-Marie Londeix and Jean-Denis Michat, among others. In 2014, a grant from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds enabled him to acquire a new soprano saxophone.
David specialises in chamber music and has performed throughout Europe — including Spain, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland — with a variety of ensembles.
