Guy Salamon

Guy Salamon, based in Amsterdam, is the drummer, composer and band leader of the Keep an Eye 2018 award winning band, the GUY SALAMON GROUP and co-leader of the international collective quartet: PULL. In addition, he is known as the drummer and steady band member of prize winners JIM VAN DER ZEE (winner of The Voice of Holland 2018), FUENSANTA MENDEZ quintet (Princess Christina Concours 2016) and TEIS SEMEY group (Princess Christina Concours 2014 and Keep an Eye Jazz Awards 2017 Best Arrangement). He is an active band member of the Martha Jane and the Talisman (feat. Maarten van der Grinten and Martha Jane Settler), Bakkho’s Puns – Spoken Jazz (based in Germany) among other projects..

Guy Salamon was born in Jerusalem in April 1989 to a family of musicians. His mother is a classical conductor and his father is a Latin singer and songwriter. Guy grew up surrounded by a big mix of musical influences including traditional folk music, classical music, salsa and jazz.

He started playing piano at an early age and transitioned to the drums when he began his jazz studies at the Jerusalem school for the Arts. In addition to music, Guy has always valued education and social engagement, and was a youth leader and educator alongside his music for many years.

In 2011 Guy started his academic studies at the Tel Aviv Conservatory – New School NY combined program and in 2014 he moved to the Netherlands to continue his studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where he also graduated.

Since his arrival to the Netherlands Guy has established himself in both the local and international jazz scene playing in Amsterdam and throughout Europe. Recent appearances include the North Sea Jazz Festival, The Bimhuis, het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Edinburgh Jazz Festival and Paradiso Amsterdam.

He has collaborated with dutch jazz artists such as Jasper Blom, Maarten ven der Grinten and Ben van Gelder and with international guest artists such as Mulgrew Miller and Kenny Werner. In 2018, Guy has played live on national television and radio and is currently performing and touring all over Europe.

Since 2016, Guy is signed with the German record label Loumi Records.
